Lacks a lot of feature to be used on a production level. It's a educational tool that does not worth much time deep diving it. That kind of review normally leads you to ECS.ĭocker Swarm - I think it's cool to engineers who are studying this whole universe of containers, cluster and orchestration. This will incline you to GKE and others that will push you on the direction to see how much your project is worth it. Once you understand the core feature of this tool you will notice that's really expensive both on time (team effort and dedication to maintain and improve) and money (servers to run) having your own k8s. Few tools like Rancher helps a lot but it cannot be compared with GKE. Getting your head around how setup, why it's deployed that way and so on takes time. But the learning curve is huge for most of the engineers. If you know how to use AWS CloudFormation ECS becomes even more friendly. It's also cheap in comparison with other services if you look on terms of performance, maintainability and feature. But it's very simple setup that can be taught to everyone on the dev/infra team.
