How did you come up with the stories for your films? The Daily News Journal recently caught up with Stephen Kendrick on the road. The story is about an elderly widow who has a prayer room, dubbed the “war room,” and teaches the value of prayer to a young woman whose marriage is failing. To date the film “War Room,” which grossed more than $70 million at the box office, has been the biggest and most talked-about film by the Kendrick brothers. ![]() Kendrick will speak about a Christian worldview of filmmaking and how the brothers’ work has lasting influence. The speaking engagement is part of the church’s School of Christian Thought seminars, held at various times throughout the year. Monday at North Boulevard Church of Christ, 1112 N. “My brother and I will pray for months and ask God to give us story lines that will connect with people and positively impact their lives,” said Stephen Kendrick, who will be guest speaker at 7 p.m. The brothers are known for faith-based films like “War Room,” “Fireproof,” “Courageous” and “Facing the Giants,” all of which have grossed millions at the box office. Every time Stephen Kendrick and his brother, Alex Kendrick, prepare to make a movie, prayer is at the heart of the plans. ![]()
